Actress Yasmien Kurdi opened up about her own traumatic experience with sexual harassment, sharing that the memory still causes her distress. Kurdi’s comments come as fellow actress Rita Daniela pursues legal action against co-actor Archie Alemania, alleging acts of lasciviousness.
In an interview with DZRH, Kurdi expressed sadness over harassment cases in the entertainment industry, noting that such experiences have long-lasting effects. “I feel sad when I hear such news,” Kurdi said. “When I went through that, I was really young and at work.”
The 35-year-old actress recalled that she still feels shaken when remembering the incident involving actor Baron Geisler during the filming of their series Suspetsa in 2009. She filed charges of acts of lasciviousness and unjust vexation against Geisler at the time, but later withdrew her complaint after he apologized publicly and personally in 2011.
Kurdi encouraged victims to speak up, adding that it is essential for management to be informed so they can intervene appropriately. “Don’t be afraid. Speak up,” she advised. “Firmly ask them to stop if needed.”
Daniela filed charges against Alemania last month, alleging he kissed and touched her without consent following a work event. The ongoing case has sparked conversations about workplace safety and support for harassment survivors in the industry.
