Kevin Quiambao Confirms ‘Ligang Labas’ Participation Had La Salle’s Permission

Kevin Quiambao, star of the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers, clarified that his recent participation in “ligang labas” or unsanctioned games was done with full approval from the team’s management. The reigning MVP explained his involvement in outside leagues, saying he played out of gratitude and a personal connection.

“For my family, I did it,” Quiambao said following La Salle’s 77-66 victory over the University of the Philippines. He added that he received no large sums for playing, instead citing his longstanding ties with Vista Laiya, where he played, and its proximity to his hometown.

Quiambao also emphasized that all of his outside commitments go through the approval of La Salle’s coaching staff, led by Coach Topex Robinson. “I inform our management about all my actions. They support me, advising me to take care of myself,” he noted. “Our team’s rule is to use your best judgment in everything you do because the team is impacted by our actions.”

In addition to his UAAP commitments, Quiambao was recently named to the Gilas Pilipinas pool for the November window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers, showcasing his growing presence in both collegiate and national-level basketball.
