Miss Universe Philippines Chelsea Manalo is taking to the Miss Universe 2024 stage with a mission to support the children of Filipino migrant workers. As part of the Voice for Change competition, Manalo aims to shed light on the unique challenges these children face while their parents work abroad to provide better opportunities.
The Miss Universe Philippines organization encouraged fans to rally behind Manalo in the Voice for Change online voting, which began Sunday. “A vote for Chelsea Manalo is a vote for the children and families of Filipino migrant workers!” they posted, noting that she currently ranks 12th in the competition and calling on the Filipino community to help elevate her to the top spot.
Fans can cast their votes on the Voice for Change website, with each vote package starting at approximately P150 ($2.49) for a minimum of three votes.
In 2023, Filipina beauty queen Michelle Dee won the Voice for Change award for her advocacy for autism awareness, setting a strong precedent for Manalo’s campaign. Chelsea Manalo now hopes to bring home the Voice for Change honor and ultimately aims to secure the Philippines’ fifth Miss Universe crown on November 16 (November 17 in the Philippines). The preliminary and national costume competitions are scheduled for November 14.
