Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters expressed admiration for her husband, Camarines Sur 5th District Representative Migz Villafuerte, commending his commitment to assisting residents impacted by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine. Peters shared her thoughts via Instagram Stories on October 24, showing Villafuerte personally helping affected communities in CamSur.
“Feeling helpless and can’t stop thinking about everyone in CamSur,” she wrote, adding that she is “proud of Migz and his dedication to genuinely helping those in need.” She also highlighted how the relief teams are “exhausting all resources” to provide rescue and aid despite relentless storm conditions.
Villafuerte, on his Instagram, reassured his constituents that he and his team are committed to addressing every call for assistance. In a follow-up post, he responded to a viral clip showing him giving PHP 500 to a grandmother whose home was heavily flooded. Villafuerte explained, “I only had a small amount at the time, but it was from the heart… After this, I promise to fix your roof.”
Meanwhile, the Villafuerte family recently faced criticism on social media over photos suggesting they were in Siargao while Bicol faced severe flooding. Migz’s father, CamSur 2nd District Rep. LRay Villafuerte, clarified that the photos were from October 19 and that they returned to the Bicol Region by October 21, condemning what he called “fake information” spread by political opponents.
