Ex-VP Leni Robredo Files Candidacy for Naga City Mayor

Former Vice President Leni Robredo officially filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for Naga City mayor on Saturday, ahead of the 2025 elections. Accompanied by her daughters, Aika and Jillian, Robredo submitted her COC at the local Commission on Elections office in Naga City, along with her election lawyer Romulo Macalintal and supporters.

In an interview, Robredo revealed that her decision to run for mayor was made as early as June or July this year. She emphasized her passion for local government work, stating, “I’m better suited for executive positions, and community work is at the heart of being a mayor.”

Robredo clarified that her candidacy is not part of a plan for the 2028 national elections, stressing her focus on Naga City’s progress. She aims for “inclusive” development that benefits all sectors, particularly the marginalized, without compromising environmental and social concerns.

Joining Robredo in her mayoral bid is outgoing Camarines Sur Representative Gabby Bordado, who is running for vice mayor. Their ticket includes several incumbents and former city officials.
