Authorities have discovered secret hallways inside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) cathedral in Davao City as they continue their search for its leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is facing multiple criminal charges.
In a report by Jun Veneracion on “24 Oras,” Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos revealed that these hidden pathways lead directly to Pastor Quiboloy’s room. The complex structure has posed significant challenges for law enforcement officers attempting to apprehend Quiboloy, who is wanted on charges of qualified human trafficking and child abuse.
“It’s extremely difficult, to be honest. We are now obtaining the building plans from Davao City’s engineering office to verify if these secret areas were declared. If they weren’t, it’s a violation,” Abalos explained. “Any undeclared structural modifications, especially those that could be used for hiding, are a serious concern.”
During the search, authorities also faced additional challenges, such as laser lights being directed at them and the discovery of a bolo knife buried in the sand. Live wires were found attached to the fences surrounding the cathedral, further complicating the search.
High-tech equipment, including ground-penetrating radar, has been deployed, and it has detected underground heartbeats, suggesting possible hidden individuals or areas. Despite not disclosing specific locations, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo expressed confidence that they are getting closer to locating Quiboloy. “We have already checked many areas without revealing the exact location, but we are confident that we are close to finding him,” she stated.
The 74-year-old Quiboloy, who claims to be the “Appointed Son of God,” is currently facing charges under the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act in a Quezon City court. Additionally, he is charged with non-bailable Qualified Human Trafficking under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, before a Pasig court.
A P10 million reward has been announced for any information leading to Quiboloy’s arrest.
