Olympic gymnasts Aleah Finnegan and Emma Malabuyo delighted attendees at a free gymnastics training session by dancing to Sabrina Carpenter’s viral hit “Espresso.” The two Filipina Olympians showcased their dance moves during breaks at the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines gym in Intramuros, Manila.
A video of their fun performance was shared by GMA Integrated News’ JP Soriano on X, where the athletes received praise for their playful routine.
Despite their strong efforts, Malabuyo, Finnegan, and fellow gymnast Levi Ruivivar did not advance to the medal rounds at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ruivivar finished 40th, with Malabuyo and Finnegan placing 41st and 47th, respectively.
Finnegan previously expressed that representing the Philippines was a “dream come true.” Upon their return, the Filipino Olympians were greeted with a grand welcome at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. They were also invited to an awarding ceremony at Malacañang Palace, hosted by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
However, Finnegan and Malabuyo were unable to attend the event at the Palace, citing that they were not informed. The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) clarified that all Filipino Olympians had been invited through the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
