Filipina golfers Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina displayed outstanding performances to conclude their campaigns at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday at Le Golf National.
Final Round Highlights
Both golfers fired a 4-under 68 in the fourth and final round, marking their highest scores in the four-round, 72-hole tournament. Pagdanganan finished just outside the podium, tying for 4th place with an impressive 6-under par total. Ardina wrapped up her first Olympic stint at T13, alongside four other golfers, with a 3-under 285 total.
Bianca Pagdanganan’s Performance
Pagdanganan started strong with four birdies and four pars on the front nine, moving up to T7 and emerging as the third-best Asian representative in the 60-woman field. However, she bogeyed the par-4 10th hole and had back-to-back pars on the 11th and 12th holes, dropping to T11. Another bogey on the 13th hole pushed her down further.
Pagdanganan bounced back with a clutch birdie on the 14th hole and maintained her position with pars on the 15th and 16th holes. She missed an eagle putt on the 18th hole but finished with two consecutive birdies, placing her at T4. Her medal hopes depended on the remaining players, and she momentarily rose to third place until China’s Xiyu Lin birdied the final hole, reclaiming the solo third spot.
Dottie Ardina’s Performance
Ardina also had her best performance, scoring identical 4-under par and 3-under total. She fired one birdie and eight pars on the first nine-hole stretch before unleashing four birdies on the back nine, including back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes.
Medal Winners
Lydia Ko of New Zealand won the gold medal, improving from her bronze medal finish in the Tokyo Olympics. Germany’s Esther Henseleit secured the silver with an 8-under par 280, and China’s Xiyu Lin took home the bronze with a 7-under par 281.
