
An explosion at a commercial building in Barangay Pinaric, Legazpi City, Albay, left several people injured around 11:30 a.m. on July 27, 2024.
Incident Details
The blast occurred during the blessing of a newly opened food stall. Among the injured was a 71-year-old priest from Sagrada Familia, Barangay Bogtong, who attended the event. The exact number of injuries is still undetermined as investigations continue.
Damage and Response
The explosion caused significant damage to the building, including the ceiling, roll-up doors, and multiple stalls. Several vehicles parked outside were also damaged.
The Legazpi City Police Station (CPS) received a call from 911 Legazpi at around 12 p.m. Emergency responders, including the Emergency Quick Response Team (EQRT), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Philippine National Police (PNP), promptly arrived at the scene to assist. The injured individuals were transported to the nearest hospital for treatment.
