“Voltes V: Legacy: The Cinematic Experience” is officially heading to Japan! TOEI Company announced that a “Super Electromagnetic Edition” of the film will premiere in Japanese theaters on October 18.
According to the newly launched Japanese website for the “Voltes V: Legacy” project, the film has been re-edited, with additional scenes not included in the Philippine version. The website also revealed that the quality of the CG scenes has been significantly improved through a full-length remastering process.
Both a subtitled version with the original Filipino audio and a Japanese dubbed version will be released.
Director’s Message to Japanese Fans
“Voltes V: Legacy” director Mark Reyes greeted Japanese fans in a video, congratulating them on the film’s Japanese release. “We hope that you will enjoy and feel the love and passion for Voltes V. Let’s volt in!” he said.
Future Plans
The website also hinted at more exciting news: “Preparations are also underway to bring the original Philippine version of the 90 episodes to Japan, and more will be announced in the future. Please look forward to it!”
Background
“Voltes V: Legacy: The Cinematic Experience” is a film cut of the series’ first three weeks, initially released in Philippine cinemas in April 2023. The series first aired on GMA Prime in May 2023 and is currently enjoying a re-run on GMA Afternoon Prime at 4:30 PM, following “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda.”
The series features Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, and Raphael Landicho as the five pilots of the Voltes V robot.
