Linda Marie Gorton, the former partner of actor Dennis Padilla, recently addressed claims made by Padilla regarding their co-parenting arrangement. Contrary to Padilla’s statements, Gorton emphasized that there is no formal co-parenting setup between them following their separation in July 2020.
No Formal Co-Parenting Arrangement
Gorton clarified on her Instagram account that since their separation, there have been no formal discussions or agreements on co-parenting their two children. “We don’t have a co-parenting setup because since we parted ways, we never had a formal conversation about our separation and how we will raise our kids,” Gorton stated. She noted that Padilla’s communication has been limited to sporadic contact with the children, without any structured discussions on parenting roles or responsibilities.
Inconsistent Financial Support
The former beauty queen also highlighted issues regarding financial support, mentioning that Padilla’s financial contributions have been inconsistent over the years. “Consistency in child support wasn’t always the case. Through the years there were many lapses in between. And many times I had to, and still have to persistently ask for it,” she explained. Gorton pointed out that she has had to cover the shortfall in child support by herself, despite also working.
Expenses and Living Costs in Australia
Gorton further elaborated on the financial aspects of raising their children in Australia, where the cost of living is higher than in the Philippines. She mentioned that the children attend public school, which does not require tuition fees, thereby reducing educational expenses. “The support he gives to the children, when spent here, lumiit na kasi the actual cost of living in Australia is far more expensive compared to the Philippines,” she said.
Personal Reflections and Moving Forward
Reflecting on her 12-year relationship with Padilla, Gorton expressed that financial issues were not the core problem in their relationship, but rather deeper misunderstandings and differences. “I stayed with him for almost 12 years, mayroon man kami o walang pera. I stayed for him and I stayed for the kids because I wanted a complete family for all of us,” she shared.
Despite the challenges, Gorton stated that she has learned valuable lessons about self-worth, patience, understanding, and the importance of speaking the truth.
Conclusion
Gorton’s statements provide clarity on the nature of her relationship with Dennis Padilla post-separation, particularly concerning co-parenting and financial support. Her candid sharing underscores the complexities of managing parenting and financial responsibilities after a breakup, especially in a cross-cultural context like theirs.
