Chinese Nationals Arrested in Taguig for Illegal Firearms Possession and Attempted Bribery

Two Chinese nationals have been arrested in Taguig City on charges of illegal possession of high-caliber firearms and attempting to bribe police officers. The arrests followed a raid by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on a residence within an exclusive subdivision, prompted by tips about concealed illegal weapons.

During the raid, authorities discovered several high-powered firearms, ammunition, helmets marked with the word “China,” a tactical vest, and a Chinese flag. The operation also led to the seizure of luxury vehicles, including a McLaren sports car valued between P15 to P30 million, which raised further suspicions due to the absence of proper documentation for these high-value items.

Police Major General Jose Melencio Nartatez, chief of NCRPO, highlighted the significant concern over the possession of such sophisticated weaponry and protective gear, questioning the intent and capabilities behind their acquisition. The seized items and their implications are currently under investigation, with the police coordinating with the Bureau of Customs and other relevant agencies to trace their origins and legality.

In a related incident during the operation, another Chinese national was caught attempting to bribe the police to influence the ongoing profiling process. This act has prompted the authorities to prepare additional charges against the individuals involved.

The NCRPO is planning further operations to identify and apprehend other suspects related to this case. This incident underscores ongoing efforts to tighten security and law enforcement vigilance within the region.
