President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. assured the public that the legal proceedings against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the head of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), would be impartial. During an ambush interview in Bacolod City, Marcos addressed concerns regarding the potential involvement of the United States in Quiboloy’s cases, suggesting that any such development is a distant concern.
Marcos criticized Quiboloy’s preconditions for surrender as unreasonable, emphasizing the principle that legal processes should not be swayed by the demands of individuals facing charges. This statement came after Quiboloy sought assurances against U.S. intervention in his legal affairs in the Philippines as a condition for his surrender.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla echoed the sentiment, stating that Quiboloy must surrender unconditionally and face the serious charges against him, which include sexual assault of a minor and human trafficking.
The dialogue around Quiboloy’s legal situation continues to intensify, with Vice President Sara Duterte commenting on the developments and maintaining that Quiboloy deserves a fair trial. Senator Risa Hontiveros has also called for Quiboloy to respect the Senate’s proceedings and face the allegations against him directly.
As the case unfolds, Marcos and other officials stress the importance of adhering to the rule of law, ensuring that the proceedings against Quiboloy are conducted fairly and without external influence.
