The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently targeted the alleged hideouts of ex-Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag in Laguna and Caloocan City, aiming to apprehend him under an arrest warrant connected to the murder of broadcaster Percy Lapid. Despite the raids, Bantag remained elusive, with no signs of him at either location.
In Santa Rosa, Laguna, the NBI’s entry necessitated the use of a sledgehammer, leading to the discovery of bullets dated April 2, while the Caloocan hideout yielded firearms and items presumably belonging to Bantag. These findings substantiate the ongoing investigations and the persistent search for Bantag, who is accused alongside the late BuCor deputy security officer Ricardo Zulueta in the high-profile Lapid case.
With both individuals charged with murder related to Lapid and Jun Villamor’s deaths, the search intensifies amid complex legal proceedings and the mysterious demise of Zulueta, adding layers of intrigue to an already contentious case. The authorities’ determination to locate Bantag continues, underscored by significant rewards for information leading to his capture.
