Palawan, the idyllic island in the Philippines, has been recognized as the fourth most trending destination for 2024 by TripAdvisor in their annual Traveler’s Choice Award Best of the Best. Surpassing many renowned global locations, Palawan stands out as a jewel among destinations such as Tokyo, Seoul, and Halong Bay.
TripAdvisor describes Palawan as “a slice of heaven,” an island teeming with exotic wildlife, picturesque fishing villages, and notable UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Among the must-visit destinations highlighted in Palawan are the Calauit Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary, the renowned Japanese shipwrecks of Coron Island, celebrated as one of the world’s best dive sites, and the enchanting Puerto Princesa Underground River.
Philippine Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco lauded this accolade, seeing it as a testament to Palawan’s timeless allure. The island is famed for its crystal-clear waters, lush tropical landscapes, and pristine white-sand beaches. It has been a model for responsible and sustainable tourism practices, preserving its natural heritage and biodiversity.
Palawan’s recognition extends beyond TripAdvisor’s ranking. In 2012, the Puerto Princesa Underground River was included in the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Moreover, the island was named the “Most Desirable Island” for 2022 by a London-based travel magazine.
This achievement highlights the Philippines’ growing prominence as a global travel destination, celebrating its natural beauty, rich culture, and commitment to sustainable tourism.
