Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced plans for a diplomatic visit to Germany in March this year. This announcement came during a courtesy call from German Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock at Malacañang Palace. Marcos expressed optimism about the upcoming visit, anticipating it to further develop relations between the Philippines and Germany.
This visit is part of President Marcos Jr.’s broader diplomatic efforts, having made 19 foreign trips since his presidency began on June 30, 2022. His international engagements have included visits to Indonesia, Singapore, New York for the United Nations General Assembly, Cambodia for the ASEAN Summit, Thailand for the APEC Summit, Brussels for the EU-ASEAN Summit, and other significant global meetings.
Despite some criticism, President Marcos Jr. has emphasized the importance of these foreign travels in attracting more investments to the Philippines. His forthcoming trip to Germany is expected to strengthen diplomatic ties and explore new opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.
