Legal Victory: Pokwang Wins Against Ex-Partner Lee O’Brian in Deportation Lawsuit

Filipina actress and comedian Pokwang has successfully won a deportation case against her former partner, Lee O’Brian. The Bureau of Immigration (BI) issued an eight-page resolution on December 12, leading to O’Brian’s deportation. This decision is based on his violation of work visa conditions, including working for a different company and his active involvement in the film and television industry from 2016 to 2023, which breached the terms of his stay in the Philippines.

The case, filed by Pokwang in June, highlighted allegations of financial abuse, intimidation, and abandonment of their daughter, Malia. Furthermore, Pokwang’s lawyer, Atty. Rafael Vicente Calinisan, emphasized the necessity of holding O’Brian accountable for the fraudulent renewal of his tourist visa and his unauthorized work engagements.

This legal victory marks a turning point for Pokwang, who expressed her gratitude for the support she received and her resolve to focus on her future with her daughter. The actress previously defended O’Brian against rumors in 2022, but admitted to having lied in an effort to save their relationship. By early 2023, she revealed that she had ended the relationship and removed O’Brian from their home.

The case stands as a significant moment in Pokwang’s life, symbolizing her fight for justice and respect, not only for herself but also for other women facing similar challenges. It highlights the complexities of personal and legal battles in the public eye, especially for figures in the entertainment industry.
