Recognizing Service: Philippine President Approves Generous Incentives for Gov’t Workers

Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has recently signed Administrative Order No. 12, granting a Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) of up to PHP 20,000 for government employees for 2023. This initiative is aimed at acknowledging the dedicated service of government workers in various sectors. The order specifies that civilian personnel in national government agencies, state universities, colleges, and government-owned or controlled corporations, including military and uniformed personnel in various national security and law enforcement agencies, are eligible for this one-time SRI. The beneficiaries must be in service as of November 30, 2023, and have rendered a minimum of four months of satisfactory service.

Additionally, Administrative Order No. 13, also approved by President Marcos, provides a one-time gratuity pay of up to PHP 5,000 for Contract of Service (CoS) and Job Order (JO) government employees. This gratuity pay is available to those who have completed at least four months of satisfactory service as per their contracts by December 15, 2023, and are still under contract on the same date. This measure extends financial recognition to a broader spectrum of government workers, including those not in permanent or regular positions.

These orders highlight the government’s commitment to recognizing the contributions and services of its employees across various sectors, ensuring that recognition and incentives are extended to a wide range of workers in public service.
