Weather Alert: Shear Line to Cause Heavy Rains in Laguna, Cavite, Mindoro, and Other Regions

The Philippines is bracing for a spell of heavy rains due to the impact of a shear line, as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Shear Line’s Impact Across the Philippines:
PAGASA’s latest weather bulletin points to the shear line affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon, including regions such as Bicol, Quezon, Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon. These areas are forecasted to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The convergence of cold northeasterly winds and warm easterlies in these regions is the primary cause of this weather pattern.

Warning of Possible Flash Floods and Landslides:
The weather bureau has issued warnings about the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains in the affected areas. The public, especially in high-risk zones, is advised to remain alert and cautious in the coming days. These weather conditions are expected to persist, necessitating preparatory measures by both local authorities and residents.

Weather Conditions in Other Parts of the Philippines:
Apart from the regions directly impacted by the shear line, other parts of the Philippines are also experiencing varied weather conditions. The northeast monsoon is affecting Northern and Central Luzon, while Visayas and Mindanao are under the influence of the easterlies. The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Cagayan Valley are likely to have cloudy skies with light rains. In contrast, the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and the rest of CALABARZON will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan.” Metro Manila and the rest of the country are forecasted to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, primarily caused by the easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.

PAGASA’s forecast of heavy rains due to the shear line in parts of the Philippines, including Laguna, Cavite, and Mindoro, necessitates heightened awareness and preparedness. Residents in affected areas should take necessary precautions against potential flash floods and landslides. The varied weather conditions across the country highlight the need for constant vigilance and readiness to respond to the dynamic weather patterns in the region.
