In a recent development, Police Major Allan De Castro, along with three civilians, faces criminal charges related to the disappearance of Catherine Camilon, a participant in a beauty pageant. The Philippine National Police (PNP) disclosed this information on November 13.
The PNP, represented by spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo, has filed a case of kidnapping and serious illegal detention against De Castro, civilian Jeffrey Magpantay, and two unidentified individuals. This action follows the vanishing of Camilon, who was last seen on October 12.
Despite witnesses reporting a bloodied body being moved from a vehicle, there is no definitive evidence confirming Camilon’s fate. Fajardo emphasized the current charges are based on the lack of concrete proof of her death. However, she noted that additional charges could be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.
Camilon’s disappearance was reported after she failed to return from a meeting with De Castro. Witnesses identified Magpantay as involved in transferring a bloodied body from Camilon’s Nissan Juke to a red Honda CRV. The Honda CRV, upon recovery and investigation, showed no prior links to criminal activities. Nevertheless, forensic investigators discovered hair strands and potential blood stains in the vehicle, supporting the witnesses’ accounts.
The PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is actively working on the case, including coordinating with Camilon’s family for DNA comparisons with the evidence found.
