Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz just added the “World Champion” title under her belt.

Last Wednesday, Diaz took home three gold medals in the women’s 55kg division in the International Weightlifting Federation World Championships. The competition took place in Bogota, Colombia.

Diaz cleared 93kg on snatch and 114kg on clean and jerk, this equalled to a total lift of 207lg. She beat out Colombia’s own Rosalba Morales who lifted a total of 199 kg. She also edged out Mexico’s Ana Gabriela Loped who totaled 198 kg.

The world title is something Diaz has been working on since getting a bronze in the women’s 53kg division last 2015 and 17, as well as winning another bronze in 55kg last 2019.

This win only builds up Diaz’s momentum for the 2024 Paris Olympics where she will strive to defend her title in the Summer Games.
