
The youngest member of the worldwide phenomenon K-pop group BTS has been confirmed to perform at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar happening on November 20.
In addition, BTS’ official Twitter account also announced that the group’s lead vocalist is part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack.
“Proud to announce that Jung Kook is part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack & will perform at the World Cup opening ceremony. Stay tuned!” the BTS account tweeted.
“It is the first time that the tournament’s soundtrack will feature a multi-song collection, with international artists showcasing diverse musical genres that span the world, setting the tone for a truly global celebration,” according to the official website of the FIFA World Cup.
Some 60, 000 spectators are expected to attend the opening ceremony at Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor, Qatar.
32 teams from across the globe will be taking part in this year’s FIFA World Cup, with the the host country battling Ecuador for the opening match. The champion will be proclaimed on Dec. 18.
Other artists of the seven-member band have also been busy with their solo projects recently, ahead of their nearing military service enlistment: RM will be releasing his first solo album “Indigo” on Dec. 2, and Jin who released his solo track “The Astronaut” earlier performed in Argentina with Coldplay.
