Ex-VP Leni Robredo Joins Obama Foundation’s Democracy Forum

MANILA, Philippines — On Friday, the Obama Foundation announced that Former Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo will be one of the speakers at its Democracy Forum on November 17 in New York City.

Together with Columbia University and the University of Chicago, the Obama Foundation will host a global meeting focusing on the ideas important to democracy. This will be live-streamed on their social media sites.

“The Forum will bring attention to the biggest challenges democratic institutions face today and showcase democracy in action around the world. We will bring together hundreds of emerging leaders from across Obama Foundation programs, leading experts, and practitioners who are reimagining our institutions and protecting democratic values.”

“The best chance we have to solve our greatest challenges is to solve them together. We hope you’ll join us,” it added. 

Robredo also announced on her social media platforms that she will attend the forum.

“Amid the difficulties we face, democracy will always find anchorage in the hearts of our people—and it is something we must protect for our future. Excited to announce that I will be joining President Barack Obama at the Obama Foundation #DemocracyForum on November 17.”

US Representative Ro Khanna and Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times writer Nikole Hannah-Jones will also speak at the discussion.
