MANILA, Philippines — Miss Grand International Philippines 2022, Roberta Tamondong finished in the top 20 of the “Miss Grand International 2022” contest on Wednesday in West Java Province, Indonesia.
Many Pinoy fans were dissatisfied when Tamondong was not included in the top 10, despite her gracefulness during the sportswear round.
Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018, is among those who believe Tamondong deserves to advance in the competition. The beauty queen claims she deserved much better and “performed so well.”
Tamondong would have worn her golden gown designed by Larry Espinosa if she had made it to the Top 10.
Miss Grand Brazil, Isabella Menin, won the pageant’s 10th edition.
Miss Grand Thailand is the first runner-up, followed by Miss Indonesia, Miss Venezuela, and Miss Czech Republic. Miss Mauritius, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Spain, Miss Colombia, and Miss Cambodia were named the 5th Runners-up.
Last year, Philippine representative Samantha Panlilio was ‘unplaced’ in the contest. Samantha Bernardo competed in Miss Grand International 2020 in 2021, amid the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and was named first runner-up.
Many Filipino pageant fans have had a heartbreaking October, as Binibining Pilipinas’ other queens have also failed to move further. Chelsea Fernandez finished in the Top 15 of the Miss Globe 2022 pageant, while Gabrielle Camille Basiano placed among the Top 20 finalists of the Miss Intercontinental 2022.
Binibining Pilipinas International 2021, Hannah Arnold is the last Bibining Pilipinas titleholder to compete in the international competition this year. She hopes to win the prestigious Miss International title in December in the Tokyo Dome, Japan.
