PH Cases on June 20-26 53% Higher Than the Past Week

MANILA, Philippines –The Department of Health’s latest bulletin reported that the country logged a daily average of 662 COVID-19 cases in the week of June 20-26. This reflects a 53% rise from the previous week. 

There were a total of 4,634 new infections last week, 14 of these cases are in critical condition. 

The health department also confirmed 51 deaths occurred during the week. This brings the country’s total pandemic-related death count to 60,518. 

On Monday, the Philippines logged 867 new COVID-19 cases. According to the ABS-CBN Data Analytics Team, this is the highest daily tally since March 6. The number of active cases is now at 7,087, surpassing the highest number of active cases since April 30. 

DOH also warned that active cases could reach 7,500 by the latter half of July if booster uptake remains low and health protocols are not followed. 

Local authorities, together with DOH, continuously remind the public to abide by minimum health protocols.
