Among 121 nations, the Philippines is one of two Asian countries that displayed the “best performances” in keeping COVID-19 infections low and efficient vaccine rollout.

Last 2021, the country also made the huge jump from placing 103rd in October to 57th in December.

Nikkei Asia, a financial magazine, commended the Philippines’ COVID response as it eased health restrictions while maintaining a low infection rate.

The Department of Health celebrated the achievement and credited it to their Prevent, Detect, Isolation, Treat, Reintegration (PDITR) strategy. They also recognized the efforts of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) in detecting and isolating new COVID-19 subvariant cases.

DOH also maintains that the country is at low risk classification for COVID-19.
