On Friday, DOH reported 14 omicron BA.2.12.11 cases in Metro Manila and Puerto Princesa.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire specified that two cases were detected in Manila while the other 12 in Puerto Princesa.
Both cases from Metro Manila completed home isolation last April 28. Prior to being infected, they were already fully vaccinated and received their booster shots. They are no longer showing symptoms and have fully recovered. DOH identified 39 close contacts; none are exhibiting symptoms.
In Puerto Princesa, 11 foreigners and 1 local aboard a mini cruise line also tested positive for the BA.2.12.11 subvariant. All of them were asymptomatic and are now recovered. 28 close contacts were identified and all tested negative.
The health official reminded citizens to practice proper health protocols as the BA.2.12.11 subvariant is 23%-27% more transmissible.
