MANILA, Philippines — On Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a 5.3 earthquake at Batangas.
PHIVOLCS said that the quake happened at 5:12PM. The epicenter was located 24 kilometers southwest of Calatagan. The shake was also felt in parts of Quezon City and Zambales with Intensity III and Intensity II respectively. Areas in Quezon City, Tagaytay City, and Batangas City felt an Intensity I tremble. Calapan City at Oriental Mindoro experienced Intensity IV.
The earthquake did not cause any significant damage, but Phivolcs advises people to expect aftershocks.
