
MANILA, Philippines — The country received 2, 098,980 doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines donated by the United States through the World Health Organization co-led by the COVAX facility.
The shipment arrived via Silkway West flight and arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport past 11pm on Sunday.
Vaccine czar Carlito G. Galvez, together with US E embassy chargé d’affaires Heather Variava, UNICEF Deputy Representative Behzad Noubary, and Health Director Ariel Valencia were present at the delivery to welcome the doses.
According to the vaccine czar, the country will be expecting more donations from the COVAX facility. However, he did not mention the exact number of doses to be expected nor did he mention the day it would be delivered.
“We thanked COVAX because they delivered a lot during this month and surpassed our expectations. Particularly the United States government, we never expected 20 million doses from the American people,” he added.
With the latest vaccine delivery, the country has received more than 20 million doses of various Covid-19 vaccines from the United States donations to COVAX facility.
So far, the country has received more than 106 million doses of various Covid-19 vaccines.
