MANILA, Philippines — Senator Grace Poe on Tuesday called on the government to ramp up COVID-19 vaccination programs as the country’s economy reopens.

With the Inter-Agency Task Force slowly easing COVID-19 quarantine restrictions and with some face-to-face classes resuming, Senator Grace Poe said “the government needs to embark on a big push to ramp up the country’s vaccination.”

“An expansive vaccination program will not only save lives, but also help pave the way for the reduction of lockdown measures, thereby boosting jobs and growth.”

The chair of the Senate public services committee also added “the thrust now is to go full throttle in the campaign for our people to get the shot that is free and widely accessible.”

The people expect concerned agencies and local government units to heighten efforts to help vaccinate those who are under-reached and under-served communities that need assistance, even as they continue
to address the hesitancy of others, she added.

“Our people must feel the seamless care of our health system wherever
they may want to seek the vaccine to protect themselves.”
