PRRD Appoints Ex-Top Cop Debold Sinas As Malacañang Undersecretary

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Debold Sinas as undersecretary at the Office of the President, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea confirmed on Saturday, Sept 11.

The controversial cop served as Philippine National Police’ chief from November 2020 to May 2021.

Sinas came under fire for holding a mañanita on his birthday in May 2020 while he was still Metro Manila’s police chief.

The former top cop came under fire  amid allegations that he violated the ban on mass gatherings and the social distancing rules for holding a mañanita on his birthday in May 2020, violating the ban on mass gatherings and the social distancing rules when he was still Metro Manila’s police chief.

Duterte, however, defended the ex-top cop saying saying that he would “pardon” him should he be found liable for it.
