MANILA, Philippines — Manila City will open its COVID-19 Field Hospital located at Rizal Park’s Burnham Green on June 24, coinciding with the city’s 450th founding anniversary.
The construction of the field hospital which started on April 2021 was finished within 52 days, 8 days ahead of the city’s completion target of 60 days.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso earlier said the facility was built to cater to mild and moderate COVID-19 cases, as well as to help create space in hospitals for non-COVID patients.
The city’s COVID-19 Field Hospital has a 336-bed capacity and is equipped with internet and airconditioning.
The Manila Health Department (MHD) on June 10 also sought for doctors, nurses, and radiologic technologists to man the field hospital.
Around 150 frontline health workers will be deployed in the facility.
