MANILA, Philippines- Registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) will start on April 30 according to Karl Chua, chief of National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).
“We will start small on April 30,” Chua told INQUIRER.net in a text message.
An online portal will be launched for the national ID registration says PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority).
In order to start the application process, applicants will have to fill out personal information and secure a date of visit to selected centers to have their biometrics information data taken.
For the first quarter of 2021, 17.4 million individuals have completed the system’s Step 1 registration, which involves the door-to-door collection of information in low-income households and appointment setting for Step 2.
Aside from the 17.4 million people whose information were taken in the first quarter of 2021, 10.6 million national ID registrants were also recorded in 2020, totaling up to 28 million.
As of April 20, there are 4.6 million individuals have completed step 2 which involves going to the centers for biometrics collection.
PSA’s goal is to register 70 million people in the PhylSys by the end of 2021.
