DOH reports increasing critical levels for COVID19 beds

MANILA, Philippines–The Department of Health (DOH) has announced that 30 out of 150 hospitals in Metro Manila were placed under critical status in terms of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients while 22 others were placed under the high-risk status. 

Collected data of hospitals under the critical status are as follows:

  • F.Y. Manalo Medical Foundation, Inc.

DOH classifications for occupancy beds for Covid-19 patients are as follows, 

  1. Critical
  2. High-Risk
  3. Moderate
  4. Safe

Hospitals under high-risk should be 70% but not more than 85% of its bed occupancy, 60-70 bed occupancy would fall under moderate status. 

Hospitals fall under safe status if the utilization rate is below 60% usage.

In Metro Manila, the occupancy rate for Covid19 patients remains at the safe zone status with 54.3% beds occupied.

Because of the rising cases in the country, the Philippine Hospital Association (PHA) called for some reinforcements from the nurses and healthcare workers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to help out, and according to PHA President Jaime Almora they have already exhausted every action from other hospitals around the metro for bed occupancies. 

DOH on Monday reported an all-time high of 8,019 new cases, totaling 80,970 active cases in the Philippines. This is an all-time high single tally in our country.
