The Department of Education announced that eligible employees will be given ₱15,000 as a one-time Service Recognition Incentive. This is lower than the ₱20,000 maximum uniform rate set.
Incentives will be distributed until January 6, 2023 and it will be given directly to employees.
Teachers’ Dignity Coalition National Chairperson Benjo Basas said that they might have trouble efficiently handing out cash incentives. Thus, he is asking for employees’ cooperation to agree with having the SRIs distributed through an ATM.
The Administrative Order No. 1 authorized the SRI at a uniform rate not more than ₱20,000.
Although the incentive handed out will be less than the maximum uniform rate, Basas remains grateful that it is higher than the ₱10,000 incentive given in previous years.
